Voyage, sud de l’Italie - Débute à Bari - South of Italy trip starts in Bari

Bonjour et bienvenue en Italie!

Comme plusieurs savent, j’aime bien voyager et c’est à travers mon blogue que je vous partage mon point de vue artistique des régions que je visite. Donc pour moi, avril 2024 a été majoritairement consacré à ma perception et mon amour pour l’Italie du Sud. 

Mon aventure a débuté dans les Pouilles, à Bari le 3 avril 2024, et je vous ferai visiter la grande majorité des villes du sud. Mon voyage se terminera à Palerme en Sicile le 22 avril. Lors de ce voyage, je visiterai plus de 24 villes dans les Pouilles et en Sicile.

Dans cette première publication de mon blogue, je vous parlerai de Bari, Polignano et Monopoli. 

Bari, Italie

Je suis donc arrivée à Bari, et tout de suite émerveillée par le charme de la marina et des petites piazza qui longent le bord de la mer.

Hello and welcome to Italy!

As many of you know, I love to travel and it's through my blog that I share with you my artistic point of view of the regions I visit. So for me, April 2024 was mostly about my perception and love of Southern Italy. 

My adventure began in Puglia, in Bari on April 3, 2024, and I'll be taking you on a tour of the vast majority of southern cities. My journey will end in Palermo, Sicily, on April 22nd. On this trip, I will visite more then 24 cities in Poulia and Sicilia. 

In this first blog post, I'll tell you about Bari, Polignano and Monopoli. 

Bari, Italy

I arrived in Bari and was immediately amazed by the charm of the marina and the little piazzas alongside  the seafront.

 

Rue étroites, places centrales, églises, architectures, balcons, pots fleuris, tout le charme de l’Italie y était à Bari.

Narrow streets, central squares, churches, architecture, balconies, flower pots, all the charm of Italy was present in Bari. 

Polignano a Mare

Polignano a Mare fait partie de mes coups de coeur. Paysages à couper le souffle et donnant envie d’arrêter le temps et de peindre. C’est une ville en banlieue de Bari construite sur une falaise d’un rocher calcaire. Elle est renommée pour ses grottes pittoresques qui habitent même un hôtel et restaurant prestigieux. 

Polignano a Mare is one of my favourite places. Breathtaking landscapes that make you want to stop and paint. It's a town on the outskirts of Bari, built on a limestone cliff. It's renowned for its picturesque caves, which even house a prestigious hotel and restaurant.

Hôtel Ristorante Grotta Palazzese se retrouve à l’intérieur de la grotte. Il est nécéssaire de faire des réservations longtemps d’avance et de ramasser ses sous… Lol !!! Quant à moi, une photo extérieure à fait mon bonheur !

Hotel Ristorante Grotta Palazzese is located inside the grotto. It's necessary to make reservations well in advance and save your pennies... Lol!!!! As for me, an outside picture made my day!

Vous connaissez sûrement la chanson Volare (Ne blu dipinto di blu) de Domenico Modugno?  Eh bien, ce dernier est natif de Polignano et d’après le jeune homme qui nous a fait visiter la ville en tuk tuk, les habitants en sont bien fiers. Une statue de bronze du chanteur, compositeur et acteur a été placée sur une petite place dos à la mer. 

Are you familiar with the song Volare (Ne blu dipinto di blu) by Domenico Modugno?  Well, he's a native of Polignano, and according to the young man who took us on a tuk tuk tour of the town, the locals are very proud of him. A bronze statue of the singer, composer and actor has been placed in a small square with its back to the sea. 

Monopoli

Un petit joyau des Pouilles et incontournable. La visite se fait très bien à pieds en prenant son temps pour y flâner. 

Le Costello Carlo V est une magnifique forteresse qui surplombe la mer Adriatique. La marina avec ses petits bateaux bleus et rouges ainsi que la mer turquoise donnent une vue spectaculaire. 

A little jewel of Puglia, not to be missed. It's best visited on foot, taking your time to stroll around. 

The Costello Carlo V is a magnificent fortress overlooking the Adriatic Sea. The marina, with its blue and red boats and turquoise sea, offers a spectacular view. 

La cathédrale de Monopoli, nommée basilique de la Madonna della Madia ou Santa Maria della Madia, est une cathédrale catholique romaine dédiée à la Vierge Marie. Initialement construite avec des poutres en bois vers 1107, elle a été reconstruite plus tard dans ce style baroque. Dans cette petite ville aux rues étroites, nous pouvons voir le clocher de plusieurs endroits.

Monopoli Cathedral, also known as the Basilica della Madonna della Madia or Santa Maria della Madia, is a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Originally built with wooden beams around 1107, it was later rebuilt in this Baroque style. In this small town with its narrow streets, the bell tower can be seen from several points.

Chiesa di Santa Teresa à Monopoli est une église construite par les pères carmélites en 1735 et dédiée à Saint Jean-Baptiste.

Chiesa di Santa Teresa in Monopoli is a church built by the Carmelite priests in 1735 and dedicated to Saint John the Baptist.

 

Des petites rues charmantes et sinueuses où on y trouve différentes touches de verdures et couleurs et même un petit coin pour se balancer ! 

Charming, sinuous little streets where you'll find different touches of greenery and color, and even a little corner to swing in!
